End of the World (Happens Everday)

We all are born into this world not knowing what is going on around us and who are parents are.  As a newborn you are clueless to expressing your needs to the world and to your parents/legal guardian except crying.  As you get older you get smarter and wiser to expressing your feelings and your needs to everyone around you.  You get to learn right from wrong and you learn as you get older what is cute and what everyone hates as a whole.  As we go through life and we get older in this life God has blessed us, but we are clueless on one thing until that on thing happens.  Death is something that we all fear at some point, but I don’t think it is death itself, but how that event comes about is what I think scares you as a person.

This is not about your religious or spiritual beliefs on what you think death is or how you perceive it, but the natural event of death itself is what I am speaking of.  The title of this blog is basically a metaphor of one person viewing the world through their eyes and then suddenly darkness falls upon your world.  To understand this post better take a look at the world as you see it physically through your own eyes and consider what is your “world”.  Is your world of the people you love and care about?  Is your world of what you do for a living or what you enjoy doing outside of the work environment?  This post is also not about the actual world ending, but again only what you see as your world coming to an end.

I don’t want you think that this is just a post of me being morbid or that I am always thinking about death.  As a police officer in this world death comes in different ways as I see other people falling victim to that event.  Also as I think about myself in this profession that I will one day, just like anyone else, will face this inevitable event.  Now, there is times to when I am praying about this to God and just asking that he allows me to at least retire in this profession and to see my kids at a self proficient age.  I ultimately would like to grow old with my wife and our kids living their lives as we have raised to live.  Just like any parent/guardian would love to see this happen, but unfortunately this doesn’t always come to light.

I write this post because I was recently involved in a fellow officers funeral and seeing death on my job sometimes makes you reflect on what is life about.  Everyone is all afraid of the world ending and speculating on how that will occur, but in actuality that it happens everyday to each of us.  If you still don’t understand what I am speaking of I will give an example below:

Susan is born in the later part of the year and grows up to be an adult in her life.  She gets a job and soon a career to what she loves and does everything to make her career a successful one.  Now, throughout her life what she sees through her eyes is her husband, parents, kids, co-workers, close friends, and potential lovers alike.  Now one day she will die in this world, that we all see everyday, but her personal world will come to an end.  She will not see these people ever again in the physical sense of the world, but she may see them in the afterlife.

So this post in itself is about your personal world and what you see and live everyday.  Unfortunately, this occurs everyday with people dying and going on to live in the afterlife or whatever you believe happens after death.  So when you fall victim to this event your world has come to an end and it might not be on the global scale, but your personal world has suddenly stop working.  This is not to scare you, I’m not trying to get deep and confuse you on what my opinion is about death, but just wanted to share on what I thought about and have been thinking about for the past few days.  You may see death in a different light than me, which is okay and I respect that you may see it that way.  I just wanted to share my view on what happens everyday and that we all need to be living to the best of our ability every minute of everyday.  You just never know when the world will end as you may not get a heads up on that.

I like the new look of the blog. Very nice. Anyway, you are so right. We can try to prophesy all we want about when the world is going to end for humanity and try to prepare for 2012 the way we did for Y2K, but the fact still remains that when you die your world ends. Plain and simple. We need to be reminded of that from time to time so we don’t lose sight of the bigger things in life; you know like actually going out and living life to the fullest.
